Ambassador Adams first visited Finland back in 1975, when he had a chance to travel to Vaasa on the west coast of Finland. In October 2015, he ventured back, this time as the U.S. Ambassador. He met with several local community, business, and university leaders.

The Ambassador visited the University of Vaasa’s beautiful seaside campus, the power generation and marine propulsion leader Wärtsilä, and the Vaasa facilities of engineering conglomerate ABB. He toured the Ostrobothnian Museum, which impressed him with its beautiful collection of art, and cultural heritage and natural history of the Ostrobothnian Region. The Ambassador also held a press briefing with reporters from YLE, and local papers Pohjalainen and Vasabladet.

When in Finland, no visit is complete without a sauna experience. In Vaasa, the Ambassador was inducted into the world of Finnish smoke sauna!
