U.S. Embassy Finland is pleased to announce the recipient of the American Studies Grant 2020.
Congratulations to Jutta Rauvala (University of Tampere) whose master’s thesis is “The Role and Usage of Finnish Language Amongst Finnish-Americans in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan” (working title).
The selection panel consisted of Deputy Public Affairs Officer Nazanin Berarpour, U.S. Embassy; Information Management Officer Raymond Marcero, U.S. Embassy; and American Studies Grant Alumna and Counsellor of Evaluation, PhD Janniina Vlasov, Finnish Education Evaluation Center. The Embassy received many qualified applications from university students across Finland.
The Embassy has been running this grant program for Finnish university students working on their master’s thesis on a topic focused on the United States since 2006. So far, 27 students have received this award. More information about the grant program is available on our website.
