Welcome to join the U.S. Embassy in Finland as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations!
Do you know the story of Roosevelt’s cabin in Rovaniemi? Or do you remember Gregory Peck’s visit to Finland or Conan O’Brien’s meeting with President Tarja Halonen?
The U.S. Embassy Finland teamed up with the Finnish Embassy in Washington, D.C., to create a “100 Years – 100 Images” photo exhibition. Starting on January 1, each embassy is taking turns to post an image to commemorate the 100-year journey of upholding US and Finnish relations tagged with #USFIN100 and #FINUS100. The past hundred years have been filled with memorable moments of presidential and secretarial visits, presentations of credentials, and of touching cultural performances and sports events. Finland and the United States have a long history of cooperation also in the fields of trade, defense, and security. To see some of the glimpses of our joint history please follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
The 100th anniversary logo is designed by Jirka Silander.
Visiting 100 Places to Commemorate the Anniversary
The U.S. Embassy Finland is also taking on a challenge to commemorate anniversary year. By the end of 2019, our American diplomats and friends of the Embassy community will try to visit 100 places in Finland. See the results here!
