Alito Alessi, (Executive Director of DanceAbility International) came to Helsinki summer 2015 to conduct a DanceAbility Teacher Certification Course. Dancers, including people with and without disabilities, and professionals working with people with disabilities came from all around Finland and beyond to attend this course and related workshops.

DanceAbility was created in the U.S. by Alito Alessi and Karen Nelson in the late 1980′s, and Alessi has continued to develop the method through his work with dancers all around the world during the past 25 years. DanceAbility is an international organization with projects happening in 20 countries and teachers in 40 countries. DanceAbility Finland (created in 2008) supports integrated dance nationally and internationally, and its vision is to transform the concept of what dance is and who can dance.
