Join Us in Celebrating Black History Month
February 11, 2020

Welcome to join us for a free screening of Academy Award winner Green Book (length 2:31) at Kino Regina movie theater at Central Library Oodi (Töölönlahdenkatu 4, Helsinki) on Tuesday, February 25, at 13:00! The event is organized in cooperation with National Audiovisual Institute.

Please pick up your free ticket from Kino Regina ticket box office.

The movie will be preceded by a brief introduction to Black History Month.

Academy Award nominee Viggo Mortensen and Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali star in Participant Media and DreamWorks Pictures’ Green Book.

When Tony Lip (Mortensen), a bouncer from an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx, is hired to drive Dr. Don Shirley (Ali), a world-class Black pianist, on a concert tour from Manhattan to the Deep South, they must rely on “The Green Book” to guide them to the few establishments that were then safe for African-Americans. Confronted with racism, danger as well as unexpected humanity and humor—they are forced to set aside differences to survive and thrive on the journey of a lifetime.

Black History Month is an annual observance originating in the United States, where it is also known as African-American History Month. During the observance month of February, we pay tribute to the generations of African Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in American society.
