Kalle Könkkölä to Receive the International Advocate Award from USICD

United States International Council on Disabilities has recognized Kalle Könkkölä as this year’s International Advocate Award recipient. Mr. Könkkölä is currently the Executive Officer of Disabled Peoples’ International (DPI) and Vice-President of the Finnish Disability Forum in Finland. He is also Chair of the Abilis Foundation of Finland, which funds disabled peoples organizations in developing countries.

Mr. Könkkölä received the award in Washington, D.C., on December 2, 2015 – on the eve of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This year also marks the 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA.)

The U.S. Embassy Finland congratulates Kalle Könkkölä, who is the first Finn to receive the award.
