President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump visited Helsinki on July 15-16, 2018. They met with President Sauli Niinistö and Jenni Haukio of Finland at the Mäntyniemi Residence. President Trump met with President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation at the Presidential Palace on July 16, 2018.

At the same time, Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo traveled to Helsinki, Finland to accompany President Trump for the President’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The Secretary also met with his Finnish counterpart, Foreign Minister Timo Soini.
