U.S. Midterm Elections will be held in November 2018. What factors are relevant for thinking about how the election will go?
In this presentation, Dr. Peter Miller will discuss the following: an overview of the House and Senate seats that are up for election; the remarkably high rate of retirements in this cycle and the number of seats without an incumbent; the historical tendency for the president’s party to lose seats in the midterm elections; the increasing role of presidential approval in midterm House races; the intervention of the courts in redistricting; the increased interest in the election from all sectors of the American electorate; and the likelihood of continuing gridlock in Washington regardless of the election result. The event is organized by the American Resource Center and TMI Hanna Harrison.
Please join us for the public lecture on Thursday, May 31 at 15:00 at the Kaisa Library Auditorium (Fabianinkatu 30, 7th floor). Welcome!
