United States Announces Centennial Gift to Finland (August 21, 2017)

On the occasion of Finland’s 100th year of independence, the United States commemorates our close and enduring partnership with Finland and is delighted to present a centennial gift of an additional $500,000 to the Fulbright Finland Foundation.

U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Donna Welton announced the gift on Monday, August 21 at a U.S. Embassy reception in honor of this year’s U.S. Fulbright Grantees. President of Finland Sauli Niinistö also attended the reception. In her remarks, Chargé Welton said, “This gift will enhance an already robust Fulbright program and reflects our shared goal of maintaining people-to-people connections between our countries for years to come.”
